I’ve seen every Rush concert tour (save one) since 1982. During all those years I’ve had some decent seats, but nothing could compare to getting backstage access during the day of the show.

I know the guys who run the box office at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. They were kind enough to hook me up. Though I didn’t get to meet Neil, Geddy and Alex (which is fine by me — best to keep your heroes at a distance), I was nonetheless very fortunate to get an inside peek of the mechanics behind my favorite band. Enjoy!

See pics below >>>
Stage right, home to Alex's gear. I think the yellow cases bring out the jaundice in my legs.

These arrows were taped on the floor outside Geddy and Alex's dressing rooms...apparently to avoid a Spinal Tap moment.

I snuck into Neil's dressing room to grab a pic of his practice kit. You have no idea how tempted I was to run behind the set and get a pic of me air-drumming.

The final stage setup and post-soundcheck (which I somehow missed!). Goddamnit.

After I snapped this pic off, I took a nap. How many Rush fanatics can say they snoozed in the same building as Neil Peart? Yeah. That's what I thought.
